Our Trustees visit Farato

In March and April 2024 this year our Trustees, Tony and Karen, returned to Farato to focus on two objectives:

  1. to prepare for the return of a team of students and their teachers from Sir Roger Manwood's School in Sandwich, Kent

  2. To start the renovations of the original Nursery School Building.

In March/April progress was made in launching our own Gambian First Readers scheme as we are now ready to roll this out to other schools in The Gambia. We propose to train our own team of teachers and work with the Cluster Monitor to train teachers in one other schools.  If that is successful, we will broaden the scope to other schools and other teams of trainers.

Sir Roger Manwood's team return home

After the Sir Roger Manwood's team returned home, inspired by their two week visit, the school holidays began and it was possible to start the renovation of the Nursery School building. First the solar panels were removed, then the old corrugate stripped from the roof. The walls were repaired and a new metal roof trusses and roofing were put in place. The job took three weeks and was completed in time for the pupils and teachers to return to classes for the start of the new term.
