We are thrilled to be holding our 9th Yalding Art Exhibition & Sale - a celebration of creativity with a powerful purpose.

Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd August 2025

Set in the beautiful and historic Yalding Church, this bi-annual exhibition showcases an inspiring selection of high-quality art and crafts from our talented local artists and makers. But it’s more than just an exhibition — it’s an opportunity to be part of a remarkable story. How it all began - While holidaying in the small Gambian village of Farato, Karen and Tony Di Marco watched a group of children sitting under a mango tree, reciting the alphabet to their teacher. That simple, powerful image sparked a journey they could never have imagined.

Determined to help, they founded SchoolGambia, and began by building two classrooms in the village. From those modest beginnings, the school has grown into a thriving centre of education — now with 10 classrooms, serving 650 children aged 3 to 16. Over the past 25 years Yalding School, Farato, as it came to be known, has become the heart of the village: providing not only education but also employment, clean water, solar energy, computer access, and essential teacher training and sponsorship. It is a testament to what compassion and community can achieve.

Join us for a summer evening preview - a fantastic opportunity to meet the artists and to learn more about SchoolGambia directly from the trustees whilst enjoying a glass or wine and delicious canapés.

Weekend opening times

The exhibition and sale will be open Saturday 2nd August, 10-5pm and Sunday 3rd August, 11-3pm. We are proud to be showing a wide range of paintings, prints, sculpture, glass, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, woodturning and ironwork all from local artists. You can enjoy tea and cake whilst mingling with artists and artlovers.
